Proverbs 18:24, King James Version

24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

I heard a message once that made a lot of sense. Maybe two years ago, I’d guess. About how some people complain they never have anyone:

•call them up just to say “how’s everything going, are you ok”?

•hug them

•send them a text just because

•to relax and chill with at a moments notice

•be the first to smile at them when there’s a lot of tension in the air

•fix a friendship when arguments or misunderstandings occur

Well, you get the picture, right? Of course the conclusion was that if you aren’t doing any of that, why do you expect to be on the receiving end of it? And let me tell you, I would bet money that pretty much anyone reading this is NOT doing it. I try to be like this, for the most part. And a lot of the time people act like it means I’m a crazy, or an annoyance. Until the time they’re left out of it and then all of a sudden it’s important.

Well mofos, I’d say it’s time for you all to step up and out of your comfort zone. Fucking GO FIRST for once in your life! It won’t kill you, I promise!

*I sit here writing this on Independence Day 2023, as I tearfully debate if anyone even gives a shit if I send out the usual holiday text or not. I’m late sending it, but they day’s not done yet. We shall see. I’m sick of being the one to always go first, but someone’s gotta do it. So I’ll prob’ly cave*……….
